New Delhi,: Veteran cricket administrator Yudhvir Singh of the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has been appointed as the manager of the Indian cricket team for the upcoming tour of England, sources from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed on Friday.
A seasoned figure in domestic cricket administration, Singh is currently a life member of the UPCA. Over the years, he has served the association in key roles, including as its secretary and director, earning respect for his organizational capabilities and dedication to the sport.
India is set to take on England in a high-stakes five-match Test series beginning June 20, with the opening Test scheduled at Headingley in Leeds. This series marks a new chapter for the Indian team following a significant leadership transition.
Young batting star Shubman Gill has been appointed captain for the tour, stepping into the role after veteran opener Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from Test cricket earlier this year. Gill’s elevation to the captaincy is seen as part of India’s push to build a dynamic, future-ready squad.
Yudhvir Singh’s appointment is expected to bring stability and experience to the management setup as Team India embarks on this challenging overseas campaign. His administrative expertise will be crucial in ensuring smooth coordination and support for the team during the long series.
The England tour is being closely watched by fans and analysts alike, with many anticipating exciting cricket and the emergence of new leaders within the Indian side.
