Palamu. A man died following a dispute while drinking alcohol in Bhikhahi village under Chhatarpur police station limits. The deceased has been identified as 40-year-old Gandhi Bhuiyan. His father-in-law, Jagdev Bhuiyan, has been accused of attacking him with an axe, resulting in his death. His body was recovered from a maize field on Sunday morning. The incident has caused concern in the area.

According to police, Gandhi Bhuiyan had gone to his in-laws’ house on Saturday to bring his wife back home. His wife had reportedly been staying at her maternal home for some time. After dinner, Gandhi went with his father-in-law to another house located some distance away. It is reported that a dispute broke out between the two over an issue.

According to preliminary information, Gandhi was allegedly attacked with an axe during the dispute. He died from his serious injuries. His body was subsequently found in a maize field. After receiving information, Chhatarpur police reached the spot, took the body into custody and sent it to Medininagar for post-mortem. Police also inspected the scene and began collecting evidence.

Following the incident, the deceased’s father-in-law, Jagdev Bhuiyan, is reportedly absconding. Police are searching for him. Police have said that the actual cause of death will become clear after the post-mortem report and detailed investigation. All aspects of the incident, including the possibility of a family dispute, are currently being examined.

Further legal action is underway.
