Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar Inspects Gangadham Chowk Following Accident

Pune, June 13 — In the wake of a recent accident at Gangadham Chowk, Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar visited the site on Thursday to conduct an on-ground inspection. The accident, which raised serious concerns about traffic management and pedestrian safety in the area, has triggered widespread public attention.

During the inspection, Commissioner Kumar reviewed the current traffic flow, signage, and road conditions. He also interacted with local officials and directed them to take immediate steps to enhance road safety. Measures under consideration include the installation of speed breakers, clearer lane markings, improved lighting, and stricter traffic enforcement.
The police department has assured the public that a comprehensive traffic audit will be conducted, and necessary reforms will be implemented without delay.
Recognizing the seriousness of the incident, Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar personally visited the accident site at Gangadham Chowk to inspect the situation. The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation. Since the mishap occurred in the middle of a busy junction, traffic was disrupted for some time.

The accident took place just as the traffic signal turned green, when a speeding truck collided with a two-wheeler, killing the female pillion rider on the spot, while the rider—her father-in-law—was seriously injured. The accident happened around 11:15 AM on Wednesday morning.

Market Yard Police have arrested the truck driver and registered a case against him.
