Pimpri‑Chinchwad police filed acomprehensive 1,670‑page chargesheet against 11 individuals, including Rajendra Hagawane (an expelled NCP member), his wife, two sons (Sushil and Shashank), daughter Karishma, and six others .The accused face serious charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including dowry death, abetment of suicide, domestic violence, and criminal intimidation .
Vaishnavi (24) was found hanging in her Bavdhan home on May 16.

Autopsy, however, revealed injury marks, including ligature signs and blunt force trauma — raising suspicion of strangulation and murder, not just suicide .Fugitive accused on the run, later arrested
Rajendra and his son Sushil initially fled, traveling across multiple Maharashtra districts. They were finally arrested in Swargate, Pune, in late May after being declared absconding .Other immediate family members — husband Shashank, mother-in-law Lata, and sister-in-law Karishma — were arrested earlier in May .
Rajendra and Sushil were expelled from the NCP by Deputy CM Ajit Pawar shortly after the case broke, citing a zero-tolerance approach and even threatened capital punishment if found guilty .
On May 27, a Pune court granted bail to five accused—Rahul Jadhav, Preetam Patil, Mohan Begade, Amol Jadhav, and Bandu Phatak—who had been arrested for harboring Rajendra and Sushil during their absconding period .
The investigation is ongoing: authorities are analyzing forensic evidence, CCTVs, call records, interviewing witnesses, and pursuing possible poisoning analysis of internal organs .
The court will assess whether Vaishnavi’s death will be formally registered as a dowry death, suicide, or murder.
