New Delhi, September 28: Delhi University (DU) has suspended three students with immediate effect in connection with the alleged harassment of a postgraduate student of Hindu College in northwest Delhi. A university official provided the information on Monday.
All three suspended students are pursuing LLB at Law Centre-II. The university took action based on an FIR registered by the Delhi Police.
According to the official, the incident took place at around 9:30 pm on September 23 in the Mukherjee Nagar area. It is alleged that some people travelling in a car followed the Hindu College student and one of her friends. The complaint also alleges that the occupants of the car attempted to pull the two women into the vehicle.
The incident was reported to the police, following which an FIR was registered. Based on the police investigation, the university administration took suspension action against the three students concerned.
The university official said the three students have been suspended from their respective courses with immediate effect. The police investigation is continuing, and the allegations related to the incident can be confirmed only after the investigation is completed.
Student safety is treated as a serious matter at universities in such cases. Following the Delhi University administration’s action, attention will now remain on the police investigation and further legal proceedings.
For now, the allegations in the case remain under investigation. The response of the students concerned or further detailed information about the incident was not immediately available.
