Kerala Police have reported several arrests as part of action against the online circulation of child sexual abuse material and other objectionable content involving children. According to police, the action was taken to monitor illegal activities involving such material on digital platforms and prevent its circulation.
During the investigation, police gathered several leads related to suspected online activities and digital devices. Officials said the roles of the people involved are being investigated. Police are also trying to determine through which means the objectionable material was being shared or circulated and whether an organized network was operating behind it.
Investigating agencies are examining the electronic devices and digital records of the accused. Information obtained from mobile phones, computers and other digital devices may form part of the investigation. Police are attempting to connect suspected activities on the basis of technical evidence.
According to officials, the online circulation of child sexual abuse material is a serious offence. Downloading, storing, sharing or circulating such material can also attract legal action.
Police have appealed to people not to forward such illegal material if they come across it on the internet or social media. Instead, they have been advised to report it to the concerned authorities or through designated cybercrime complaint channels.
During the investigation, police are also analyzing possible contacts between the accused and their digital activities. Further arrests have not been ruled out based on facts that emerge during the investigation.
For now, questioning of those arrested and examination of digital evidence are continuing. Police said necessary action will be taken under the law in cases related to child safety, while monitoring of online exploitation and the circulation of illegal material will continue.
